We support the Iraqi position against the Syrian regime

Tweet RPS

The president of the World Council of the Cedars Revolution Mr Joe Baini has forwarded a letter of support for the stance of the president of the Iraqi government Mr Nouri El Malaki in which he accuses the Syrian regime as being behind the explosions in Iraq, emphasizing the following issues;

  • The World Council of the Cedars Revolution totally supports the right of Iraq to defend its self determination and the security of its citizens. We view that the head of the Iraqi government has placed his finger on the real issue in his direction of the accusations against the Syrian regime in being responsible for the explosions that are taking place in Iraq. Lebanon and the Lebanese had suffered and still suffer from the same support by Syria of all the terrorists operations and organizations and its intervention in the affairs of others in the region.
  • The call by Iraqi president El Malaki for the expulsion of all the Syrian Baathists from Iraq is a natural reaction given the Syrian Baathists organization’s activities of creating conflict and the suppressing of the Iraqi people and others in neighboring countries. This has been the experience of the Lebanese people for thirty years.
  • The call for the reference to an international court to which could be deferred all the crimes committed by terrorists. Such a court can seek and apprehend those responsible for such crimes, as was the case in Lebanon. This would be the preferred solution which could lessen irresponsible activities currently undertaken by the Syrian administration and its affiliates who are causing suffering and sacrifices which can no longer be accepted.
  • The Lebanese Diaspora wishes to express to the Iraqi people that they have support in the region. They have support in their right for self defence and a peaceful life.

The World Council of the Cedars Revolution in what it represents is prepared to place all its capabilities at the disposal of the Iraqi government to facilitate its efforts in limiting all terrorist attacks and bring to justice all those who stand behind terrorism in the region.
